Arts Council Artist: David Clair
Exhibit: One-Man Show: Painting with Paper. In this second one-man
show, David Clair has experimented
with a variety of collage and mixed media techniques. Over the last several
years he has been incorporating solvent-treated magazine papers ( e.g. from old
National Geographics ) into both representational and abstract work, thus giving
rise to the theme of this exhibit which is Painting With Paper. David
Clair is drawn to the textural and tonal effects that can be achieved with these
papers, and uses them to simulate rocks and foliage in landscapes as, well as to
create interesting effects in more abstract work. The exhibit features
approximately 25 works in acrylic, collage and mixed media by this talented
artist. Opening Reception, September 7, 2-4pm.
